Christmas Time!
Ahh... It feels like Christmas now! I spent most of the morning making tamales. It really didn't take all that long since I cooked the meat yesterday. My mom came over to help me wrap up some of the tamales. Apparently we had a Tamalada. That is my new word of the day. A Tamalada is a get together where family works together assembling tamales. Greg participated by entertaining the kids. I am looking forward to the day when Marcus and Will can participate in tamale making too.
After nap we dressed the kids in the Christmas outfits and headed out to see Santa! It has been really cold here and it was snowing a little. I was surprised how much snow was sticking to the roads. We got on the interstate for a few miles and our top speed was only 35 mph since everyone was weary of icy spots.
There was a bit of a line to see Santa today. Marcus was really excited about getting to tell Santa what he wanted but then got his glazed over look when we got there and he started to get nervous. It was finally our turn and I plopped Marcus down on Santa's lap. Greg put Will down and Will started to freak out. I actually thought it would be really cute to have a picture of both kids screaming. The woman taking the picture was taking forever and I thought maybe she was trying to get a picture of Will not crying. I kept telling her not to worry about it. Apparently there was a problem with the camera though. It took so long for her to fix it that Will stopped crying. Marcus remained consistent with that stare that appears in most of the pictures we have of him. The result was a really really long line of people giving us mean looks for taking so long and this picture.
After Marcus got off of Santa's lap he turned around with a huge smile on his face and yelled, "Yellow presents!" Santa said as long as Marcus was a good boy he would see him on Christmas Eve and bring him yellow presents. After we walked away I asked Will if he liked Santa and he yelled, "Yes!" He has a funny way of showing things. Will also said he told Santa what he wanted for Christmas. He must have whispered it though because I don't even have a clue what he wants.
We stopped to have some Long John Silver's (yuck!) for dinner. A couple at the next table asked if our boys were twins. Then they asked where they were from. I was tempted to say, "The other side of town," but they seemed like they had pure intentions so I said, "Guatemala."
When we got home we changed out of our fancy clothes and into our pj's for a pajama party! This really deserves a post all of its own but this is already my second post of the day. Make sure your sound is on.
All the snow and the Santa seeing made it feel like it was Christmas. Less than three weeks to go!
For your viewing pleasure, here is our visit with Santa last year. He came to our house. Although Will wasn't too excited about Santa holding him this year, thankfully he wasn't nearly this upset.
