Roll Out the Red Carpet!

It's official! The adoption is complete!

William was brought to us around 3:00 yesterday. We talked with the foster family for a bit. It was so sad watching them say goodbye to William. Both his foster mother and foster father cried. That of course made me cry too. I asked the foster father how they could go through this, seeing the children they have loved and cared for leave. He said that they know that they are helping out so many people. They are helping the children have the opportunity to have a better life and they are helping people like Greg and me build our family.

Then it was back to our room to enjoy William. At least that is what we thought we were going to do. William had other plans. He cried for about 10 minutes and I thought it was likely because we were weird people and we were in a weird place and suddenly his foster family was gone. But then he fell asleep. He slept for about two hours. Greg and I watched football.

When he woke up it was time to play! He was all smiles and on the go. He is crawling and we headed over to the kids room so he could crawl around. He loved seeing all the other kids there. We saw some friends of ours and hung out with them for awhile. William was off doing his own thing.

We tried to keep to the schedule that the foster family followed so we headed back to the room for a bath (he screamed the whole time) and into pj's. I didn't think that he was really that tired but he fell asleep drinking his bottle. He woke up maybe 2-3 times during the night, but he was just whining. Greg rubbed his back and he was back to sleep in minutes.

Today was the big embassy day! We were well prepared to be overwhelmingly board. We had to stop quickly for William to get his picture taken for his Visa and then we went to the embassy. We stood outside for quite a long time. Finally we were inside where we sat there for an even longer time. At last we were called to Window 10 where a man looked at our passports for about two seconds and stamped a form approved. Then we waited even longer. Last stop was Window 9 where the final signature was made and the woman told us to head back home for a Primanti's sandwich.

Tomorrow we will get our Visa around 4:00 and then on Wednesday we will be headed home. Several years ago, I guess they used to issue the Visa on the same day as the embassy appointment. I wish that were the case now. I am ready to get this cute little munchkin home!

I'll post some pictures later. I just don't have the energy to do it now.
